About Matsuba Factory
Located in Fuchu, Hiroshima—a city renowned for its furniture-making heritage—Matsuba Factory has nearly 80 years of history as a wooden pattern maker for metal casting.
Our expertise lies in creating precision wooden patterns for automobile engine components and maintaining metal molds. We specialize in ultra-precise wood machining and artisanal hand-finishing.
Despite the challenges brought by the rise of CAD/CAM and 3D printing, we continue to preserve our craftsmanship by evolving it into new forms.
Traditional manual finishing and simple yet highly accurate mechanical machining are at risk of disappearing. To pass these skills to the next generation, we apply our technical mastery to modern creative tools, such as our wooden iPhone cases, AirPods Pro cases, and these precision keycaps.

We apply the same rigorous standards required for automotive engine components to our wooden keycaps.
・Precision Machining by Master Craftsmen
Pattern making is the first step in turning a blueprint into a physical form, requiring extreme accuracy. While we cannot mass-produce, our NC machines—calibrated to 0.01mm—allow us to perfectly carve even the intricate fitting structures on the underside of each key.
・Premium Timber Selection
We use the same high-quality Walnut and Maple found in luxury furniture from Fuchu, Hiroshima.
・Solid Natural Wood
Each piece is precision-machined from solid blocks of luxury timber.
・100% Natural Colors
We use no artificial dyes. The authentic colors and textures of the wood will deepen and gain character the more you use them.
・Hand-Finished Perfection
After CNC machining, each keycap is hand-polished by a skilled craftsman. Years of know-how go into every detail, including the subtle rounding of the edges.
・Oil Finish (Walnut, Black Cherry, Oak)
Finished with "Livos Ardos," a high-safety standard oil used in luxury furniture. It allows the wood to breathe, providing a direct, organic feel.
・Urethane Finish (Maple)
To protect the light-colored Maple from stains and oils, we apply a high-performance urethane coating for durability.
・Safe and Sustainable Materials
The "Livos Ardos" oil provides excellent water resistance and a silk-like luster. It complies with German safety standards (DIN EN 71 Part 3) and is safe for the human body.
・Beeswax Cream Final Touch
The final finish is applied using beeswax cream from "Oyama Seizai" in Toyama. This significantly enhances the tactile experience and allows you to enjoy maintaining the wood over time.

・Excessive force may damage the internal fitting. Always use a dedicated keycap puller and pull vertically.
・Repairs are available for a fee (Starting from ¥4,400).
・No warranty period is provided. Repairs or replacements are paid services except for initial defects.
・Matsuba Factory is not responsible for any damage or failure of the keyboard body resulting from the use of this product.
